Spring is the Super Bowl for home service businesses. Homeowners emerge from winter ready to spend money on their houses — landscaping, painting, roofing inspections, HVAC tune-ups, pressure washing, deck staining, window replacement. If your marketing isn't ready when they start searching, your competitors get the first wave.
The Checklist
Website (Do in February)
- Update your hours and service area. Did anything change over winter? Make sure your website reflects current info.
- Check all contact forms. Submit a test form. Does the email arrive? Is the phone number correct?
- Publish spring-specific content. "Spring home maintenance checklist", "When to schedule your AC tune-up", "Is it time to replace your roof?" Publish these BEFORE spring so they have time to rank.
- Update your pricing. If rates changed for the new year, update your website. Stale pricing causes confusion and lost trust.
- Run PageSpeed test. Google PageSpeed Insights — is your site scoring above 90? If not, you're losing mobile visitors.
Google Business Profile (Do in February)
- Update hours. Especially if you shifted to extended hours for busy season.
- Add new photos. Recent project photos signal an active business.
- Post a Google update. "Spring scheduling is open — book your [service] today."
- Respond to all reviews. Every unanswered review is a missed opportunity. Respond to everything — positive and negative.
- Check your categories. Are you listed under the right service categories?
Content (Do in February-March)
- Publish 2-3 seasonal blog posts. Target the searches that spike in spring.
- Email past customers. "Spring is here — time to schedule your [annual service]." A single email to past customers can generate 5-15 bookings.
- Update social media. Post recent work, seasonal tips, and booking availability.
Operations (Do Before April)
- Test your lead response time. Have someone fill out your contact form. How fast do you respond? Under 5 minutes wins the lead. Over 24 hours loses it.
- Set up text notifications. If you're on a job site and can't check email, a text alert for new leads ensures nothing falls through the cracks.
- Update your voicemail. Does it still say "We'll get back to you"? Change it to "We're currently serving customers and will return your call within [timeframe]."
